Fresh Summer Color: Decorating with Blues, Greens & Ivory
There's a shift that happens in July — the light gets longer, the air gets heavier, and suddenly the deep, cozy tones that felt right in January feel like too much. This is the season for cooling your palette down. Think sea glass, sage, cream linen, the inside of a shell. Blues and greens read as fresh rather than cold when they're layered with enough ivory and natural texture, and that balance is exactly what we chase in the Maaribu showroom every summer.
Here's how we're bringing that palette home this month, piece by piece.
Start With the Pillows
Nothing changes a room faster than a pillow swap, and D.V. Kap is where we always start. The quality of the fill alone — feather and down inserts on every style — means these hold their shape and actually feel as good as they look, which matters when a pillow becomes a room's whole personality for a season.
Knubby is our go-to for this look. The nubby, tactile texture reads relaxed and coastal, and it comes in a run of colorways that hits every note of this palette — a cool blue, a grounded green, and a soft ivory with a taupe cord edge that acts as the neutral bridge between the two. Mix all three across a sofa or a bed and you get a layered, collected look without anything competing.
For pattern, the Norse woven solid brings in a soft light blue and a warm citrine green — both work as a quieter, textural counterpoint to Knubby's chunkier weave.
If you want a true grounding green, the Contessa in solid green is simple, saturated, and does a lot of work on a neutral linen sofa.

A Stool That Does Double Duty
The Made Goods Binx Stool might be our favorite multi-tasker for summer styling. It's ceramic, weather-resistant, and rated for outdoor use (just not freezing temps) — so it moves seamlessly between an entry vignette, a bedside perch, and a spot on the porch. And here's the fun part: it comes in both Soft Blue and Green Gloss, so you can pick whichever your palette needs more of, or use one of each to anchor a pair of spaces.

Boxes & Trays for the Finishing Touch
The last 10% of a room is always the styling layer — the small, functional-but-beautiful objects that make a console or a coffee table look intentional rather than staged. This is where a Made Goods box earns its keep, corralling remotes and coasters while still looking like a design choice.
Pair it with the Sage Leather Serving Tray with Glass Insert to warm up a bar cart or coffee table — the sage-green leather and recessed glass surface make it as functional as it is good-looking, and the round silhouette is designed to pair with matching sage leather coasters for a cohesive tablescape.

Layer in Ivory Throws
Every summer palette needs a neutral to breathe against, and a good throw does that better than almost anything else in the room. The Sferra Cervino Throw — a wool and cashmere blend woven in Italy with a twisted fringe — comes in Beige, a warm, ivory-adjacent neutral that grounds the blues and greens without going stark white. It's currently on sale at $261 (from $425).
Frame the Season
Don't overlook the gallery wall or the bedside table. The Light Blue Suede Frame brings the same cool, saturated color into a smaller, more personal object — perfect for a favorite photo from a beach trip or a pressed piece of art. The soft suede texture gives it a tactile edge next to all that ceramic and linen in the room.

The Takeaway
Summer color doesn't mean going bold across the board — it means trading warm, heavy tones for something that feels like it belongs near water. Layer your blues and greens against plenty of ivory and natural texture (linen, ceramic, woven), and let one or two pieces — a stool, a stack of pillows — do the talking.
